Mom: Baby run over by train is 'doing fine'

It's a video every parent has trouble watching, but Shweta Verma assured everyone her six-month-old boy Saurish is doing just fine a little over two weeks after his stroller fell in front of a train in Melbourne, Australia.

Verma, 29, is obviously still struggling with the incident, but she is taking the happy ending as a good sign for her son. "I believe he is destined to do something good, something great in his life," she told Matt Lauer.

Like any other mom, she seemed really concerned about her child. I am glad her baby is ine and she is trying to move on. I hope she and her family can get past this. Her child is so young that he will probably not even remember this, but she will ... I hope she can move past .. it really was not her fault.

She and her family are in our thoughts

Glad the baby was safe, what stroller was that? I need something safe like that for my little girl!

Matt Lauer has lost his objectivity as a reporter/interviewer when he opines to the mother " It must have happend for a reason and the baby is destined for something great." Also when he tells the mother to hug her baby closely he becomes her counselor/priest. Not good reporting in my opinion.

Accidents happen, that is a fact of life on this planet and reporters need to stick to the facts and stop interjecting their own quais-religious, superstitious ideas into the conversation. A miracle is something which happens that is completely unexplainable by natural science. This incident is totally explainable --no need to carry it further as a reporter.

Unfortunately, those kind of accidents do happened, no one is to blame. I'm very glad that the baby is doing well, and hopefully in time Mom will be fine too. Thank God for miracles and friends.

Many blessings to the mother and her family, yes God watches over all of us!

So glad God was looking down on the child that day. That is why we beleive!

God blessed this child with his love, this is why the child lived and didn't suffer grave injuries!

Thank God that Saurish is safe! Shweta did nothing that most mom's have done with their babies and a lot less than a lot of mom's have done. Unfortunately the baby rolled away from her, and praise the Lord that he was wrapped in our Lord's loving and protective arms! Surely good things are in store for this miracle child. God Bless you Shweta, know for sure that the Lord has intrusted you with a very, very special child!

Well in my opinion, she shouldnt have removed her hands from that stroller for any reason!!Stopping to adjust clothes when youre in a store is 1 thing but not when youre by train tracks...umm hellooooo....is she REALLY that stupid??She was asking for something to happen.

I am so glad that nothing happened to the baby boy. My heart was pounding when I saw that stoller go down. She tried her best. I don't think its her fault at all as it could have happened to anyone. You are right, God prob has destined him to be something. You are lucky to have a child like that. Wish you all the best for future.

This is proof that God is sitting high and looking low. What a miracle. This what faith is about. I pray that we all see those miracles that are happening around us everyday and appreciate the prosperity of life that we all share. Pray for this family that the mother will soon heal from this situation.

What a happy ending story! I can't even imagine how she felt when that train hit the stroller.

                      Thank God for such miracles!!

I'd like to judge and say it was the mother's fault but I'm a father of two and have done the same thing. I don't live around train tracks and have never taken my kids on a train, but the situation is the same anywhere. I'll say thank God for protecting that child. But let's not forget the good folks who make those strollers and straps tough and above the minimum safety standards, or the engineer of the train who acted as quickly as possible to stop the train. This was a combined effort and thanks to all the protectors, that child is now safe and home.

Watching the vidio, it seems she became preoccupied and didn't notice the stroller rolling until it was at the edge of the platform. At the first movement of the stroller, she could have reached out and grabbed the handle. I'm very happy that the child survived. The good Lord was watching over her.

My girls, now in their 40s, are always saying it's a miracle they survived (no proper car seat, a flimsy stroller that would have never made it on those tracks, etc.) I do not blame the mother at all, because things like this "just happen" and I know it must have been terrible for her when she saw the stroller going over the side. I know my heart was "in my mouth" when I first saw it on TV.

As a mother I know that we all make mistakes. I am so thankful that God saved her baby as I am sure that she is.

She's an idiot! Where is Child Protective Services when you need them? Why would you take the brakes off the stroller and your attention away from your child? It doesn't take a Rhodes Scholar to figure that one out. I think she should be charged with child endangerment and required to take parenting classes. Throw her in jail or, deport her.

I am a mother of three (3) and there is no way I would ever have taken that risk to "adjust my clothing" in front of a train. God is good....she on the other hand, is a moron.
