A government task force said Monday that most women should wait until age 50 to get mammograms and then have one every two years. They also said that breast self-exams do no good and women shouldn't be taught to do them. Will you follow the new recommendations?

A recent mammo gave reason for a biopsy, which turned up atypical hyperplasia. I have no fam. history, but am now in a higher risk category

No. I will continue to get regular mammograms and do self exams.

This is just setting up the government led insurance to refuse payment for mammograms as "unnecessary" or "elective".

If getting them early on means saving even one life then I see no reason to chance it by waiting an extra ten years.

There was a reason we were going early and doing self-exams, it was recommended.

Radiation is poison in small doses, I'll take less poison whenever it is offered!

My wife gave this answer and I am with her. The only reason this came out is for the new government healthcare not to have to pay for it.

No, continue to do self exams and get mammograms as necessary, at least every two years. Actually, I would suggest annual mammograms. As a breast cancer survivor; I feel this is the wrong information to give to women. I was diagnosed this year with DCIS Stage 0. Had it not been for my taking action and getting mammograms done since I was age 40; I don't think I would have been so lucky to find out about this diagnosis at its earliest stage. I would suggest to all women (DO NOT ADHERE TO THE INFORMATION) this task force has to offer. By the time the disease shows up on your mammogram; it has been there for years already. So the earlier you find out about it, the better your chances are to recover. In my case, I would never have even thought about it because I never had any symptoms or anything to suggest that I had breast cancer.

My mother had breast cancer, she had the mammograms every year and found very early that she was infected with this awful disease. She and my wife believe as I do, that this is only in preparation of the government controlled health care system. They can now point to this study, force millions of women to pay for their own tests and deny help to anyone that waited too long and can no longer be helped at all. FIGHT BACK! It's your life and they are only interested in saving money, read the article, they say it themselves! We have a very sick and twisted government right now, fight back and get petitions going to void this financial study.

There are females as young as 10 years old getting breast cancer that would not have been found if not for self exams. How is it hurting any female to learn to check herself monthly. How many women are diagnosed with breast cancer every DAY! To not do anything to make sure that you are OK is not OK. We need to fight this ruling it is our health on the line here.
