I was given a dirty boiler room that doubled as a broom closet. Spiderwebs, stink and mold. I drove home to express and drove back on a one-half hour lunch break. Needless to say after returning back to work five weeks after giving birth, I only continued nursing for about two more months. I felt very cheated in a male dominated factory....

I worked in a hospital and found several nice rooms that were availiable.

I was permitted to put a sign on my office door and use that space, which is great. But I am never granted the breaktime to pump other than on my lunch. Everytime I bring it up I'm told I'm allowed two 10 minute breaks and a 30-60 minute lunch, but because of my scheduling, it's not POSSIBLE to take those breaks without getting fired!

The decision to breastfeed/pump is your own choice. This should not entitle a woman to more break time than other employees. Stay on maternity leave if don't like that. If you come back to work, you have the same responsibilities and privileges of every other employee. It's not fair to the rest of the staff for one employee to get extra break time because of breastfeeding issues. I'm a woman without children and felt I was taken advantage of because I had to pick up the slack from another female employee who pumped whenever she felt like it. Her life choice was not my choice!!! Completely damaged our professional relationship.
