Would you let children under 9 ride their bikes to school unsupervised?
A London couple may be in a spot of bother for letting their children do that from their home a mile away.
Oliver and Gillian Schonrock have been warned they could be reported to social services because they allow their 5-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter to make the trip unsupervised.
The Schonrocks defend their decision, saying it helps the children learn responsibility and self-confidence.
Oliver Schonrock, 40, who walked to school as a boy, told the London Daily Mail that he and his wife are trying to “teach them a little bit about the risks of life.” But a head teacher at Alleyn’s Junior School in Dulwich, southeast London, told the couple that the school has a legal responsibility to notify authorities if they feel the children’s safety is at risk.
However, the Schonrocks also have a defender in a position of power: London mayor Boris Johnson, who hailed the couple as heroes in a column in the London Daily Telegraph and said they are “being persecuted by the authorities.”

What do you think? Would you let children under 9 ride their bikes to school unsupervised?

Perhaps an 8 year old is alright if he is educated on possible dangers; however, I would not want him to be responsible for a 5 year old!
