Sesame street introduced this song along with a Will I AM song and some other guy on Facebook. The guys were fully dressed, they sung inspirational songs for kids, both songs were great. Then the female video of Katy comes on and you can literally see half her breast when she bends over.

I love breasts, and everything to do with breasts, however, really NOT appropriate for growing girls. It says to little girls you have to show your body and be overly sexualized to get attention. She can do the same song fully dressed. If you don't think four year olds "get it" you are crazy. I have seen many four year olds asking to dress provocatively. It may not be exactly sexual at this age, but it conditions them to be "princesses" instead of a doctors, lawyers, CEO's, or professors. STOP THE "SEXUALIZATION" OF OUR CHILDREN NOW!

Yes, of course you see more skin at the beach and during breast feeding but that is healthy, good breast exposure ...not cheap and sleazy:)

If you know anything about Katy Perry, part of her self promotion IS "cheap and sleazy". She really isn't a good choice for children's programming at all.

I think that if you are watching the boobs bounce around on a sesame street show than maybe you have a problem. I doubt that Katy Perry is the first person on Sesame street that has boobs. I have seen way worse on ch 7 commercials. When I first watched the show (I am a mother of two) I didn't even notice the "cleavage" I couldn't figure out what was wrong with the show. The comment above about Tinkerbell is SO true. You can argue that you cant compare apples to oranges but, have you seen the women at Disneyland that dress up like Tinkerbell? REAL PEOPLE! Disney princess's all have..what many of you would call offensive outfits on but, no one says anything. Would it be an issue if Martha Stewart was wearing the same outfit? probably not!

I agree w/ Kacie. This isn't comparing apples and oranges...we are talking about what Katy Perry was wearing on a children's show. Her outfit was no different then the outfits that Disney has had Tinkerbell wearing. In fact, Tinkerbell's outfits are always in the top 10 choices for sexy halloween costumes.

Granted Katy Perry's songs can be a little "different," but PBS knew that when choosing her. So, there is no reason to bring up the Ur So Gay and I Kissed A Girl songs. It's the outfit that people are having a problem with, and I disagree with that mentality.

I think that if one is going to have a problem with what Katy Perry is wearing, and cause enough ruckus to have it removed from television, then they should have Disney's character removed, as well Simple as that

They're foolish lyrics about adult subject matter. "I kissed a girl and I liked it"?Sorry, I can't get behind that for kids or anyone else. i dont see what the problem is do they actually think that they're kid is going to be paying more attention to her boobs then the song with elmo dancing around? and if they do then maybe its time that mom or dad sat down with the child and had a little talk anad if they feel its too inappropriate then maybe its time to turn off the tv.

And why trash katy perry? it was the network that decided to put in in that outfit for that particular song im sure if they did let her pick her wardrobe they didnt give her a very big variety to choose from...

What? This is Sesame Street! It's a show intended for preschoolers. Parents should be able to turn on Sesame Street and not worry at all about what messages and images their children see there.

There's nothing horribly scandalous about this dress or the song. But in my opinion, there's nothing about this video that makes it a great match for preschoolers. Why do preschoolers even need rock music with lyrics that are kinda muffled and hard to understand? Or bodices that look like an ad for Victoria Secret? Sesame Street can do better.

I agree that this should not be on Sesame Street. This is a show dedicated to children, outfits and songs like that should not be exposed to them. I also agree that Tinkerbell is dressed way too sexy for my little girls to watch and want to be like. It doesn't matter if it is a real person or a cartoon; as parents it is our job to protect our kids and to give them good role models and morals.

A lazy parent leaves the TV on and walks out of the room without checking the content of the show and the commercials. Teaching kids how to dress modestly and conduct themselves with dignity should be the goal of every parent - the majority of stuff on tv teaches them the exact opposite.

Turn the tv off - play a game with your kids, read them a book, talk to them or have a family activity.

I guess my 2 yr old saw plenty when I breast fed him. He doesn't think about breasts... he is 2. He enjoyed the video in a completely different way then say my husband would. Would people have been happier had she worn a tank top and shorts?

On another note....with all the people on the set of Sesame street they didnt say anything to her while she was filming. So they must have thought it was okay. Its not like she secretly changed her outfit. Also, they probably had that dress in their wardrobe right???

I agree completely. PBS is the only station I feel free to let my young children watch anymore. The commercials are appropriate, the cartoon aren't anatomically correct... I hope this is not the start of PBS becoming desensitized.

Yes but Sesame Street when we were growing up was much more tasteful. Girls don't need to think that is what they need to look like, I fight with my teenage girls as it is on the tight, low rider, skinney jeans and shirts that show way too much, they aren't even allowed to watch the music videos for that kind of music because of the way they dress.

Actually, I don't allow my young children to watch any channel unsupervised. For the most part, we rent movies/shows from the library or purchase movies. To be honest, my kids watch only 30 to 60 mins of tv a day (at the most) - many days they will go without TV. They are usually outside playing or reading a book. I don't want my children to watch shows that have girls half naked, guys talking crude to each other or showing disrespect to their parents - which so many shows and cartoons do. BTW, they are 4 1/2 and too busy playing in the fresh air to be exposed to garbage tv that packages it's self as a "children's program".

Teaching my children morals and how to respect themselves and each other is the most imporant thing I can teach them.

I agree, when coming from an adult viewpoint. Children, however, see Sesame Street as reality, just as Santa Claus, fairies and the Tooth Fairy. We just need to be careful what we adults introduce into "their" reality.

Good Point Robyn ! I have 3 grown children that grew up in the REAL WORLD and did not live a life of fantacy and lies . Sesame street was a show of fun , nothing to take too serious .

Sure, when I have kids i will definitely be very careful waht my children watch... I don't think TV needs to be such a strong source of "entertainment" in their lives... I am appalled at much of the entertainment industry these days and what is "OK" or even considered moral.
