I'm a parent and a teacher, so I have notable experience dealing with children. The problem with kids today is too much coddling (not the same as cuddling) and not enough discipline. I gurantee you 98% of parents think their kids are perfect and whatever they do wrong is someone else's fault And these parents throw fits in front of their kids to defend them even when they know the kid is at fault If young children were taught that there are consequences to their actions (and I do not mean physical abuse or even verbal abuse) and they must be held accountable, then I believe we would have much better adjusted adults and far less anti-social behavior.

I will offer a recent example of extremely bad parenting - the mother and father that posted death images on Facebook and their own car directed at a child who is dying from Huntington's diesease and the childs already deceased mother. The offenders children were not invited to a party at the home of the terminally ill child, and that was the parents response. Instead, the offending parents should have taught their children that they will not be included in everything for any number of reasons. They also can teach them not to take it so personally that they feel compelled to strike out unfairly. A good life takes a good effort, and even then things can go wrong. Adapt and move on.

"Caveman Parenting" might work if we were cavemen.

Any parenting being done is good parenting!

The common mistake is being a friend to your kids, they need a Mom and/or Dad before they need another friend.... Yes there is a time and place for friendship, but not during their primetime for learning.

What a child see's in their first 3 years of life, they take with them for the rest of their life. So to say that their too little to understand or it won't matter rethink that philosophy, they learn from watching us!

There's nothing wrong with discipline and sometimes spanking is required only to remind them of the severity of their choice, perhaps in adulthood there choice will land them in much more serious waters, so learning early is key for your child.

Children must be taught to understand they can make choices and with each choice comes results. Learning this at an early age is fundamental to a happy well adjusted teenager, young adult.

Not withstanding, a child can turn out well adjusted later in life given a poor environment, bad parents, etc, but the odds are against that happening.

You should as a good parent be concerned with giving yourchildren the best chance to make it in this tough, unforgiving world we created for them to live in!

You can raise good kids!
