Kate Gosselin (allegedly) repacks kids' lunches: do you?

Reality-television star Kate Gosselin, mom to eight, is under fire yet again – this time, for allegedly repacking her children’s uneaten sandwiches, sending them to school with the same “gross” PB&J for lunch, day after day.

Something about this story doesn’t pass the smell test, and it’s not the sandwiches. Gosselin’s children are 10 (the twins) and 6 (the sextuplets), and judging from the TV show they’re clever enough to figure out that if they chuck out their moldy old sandwich at lunchtime, they’ll get a new one.

But honestly, we might be on Team Kate here. Is repacking a kid’s uneaten sandwich for lunch really so bad? Not all week, of course, but once or twice. Reduce, re-use, recycle, right?

What do you think? Is repacking kids' lunches OK?

I would do it. I don't force my kids to eat, but we do have an "eat it now or eat it later" policy.

No, Sandwiches last only a day in a locker and it is not healthy to resend a day old sandwich for a day two; common sense over frugality!

Kate must not be the only person doing it so it helps open our eyes to the butter and rice, sugar on toast diet some must survive on

We use ice packs, so why not? And heck my HUSBAND does this with his own lunch! The US wastes over half of its food, enough is enough!

tha's disgusting. Even if they didn't eat it, they certainly unwrapped it and thus exposed it to germs etc.

Within reason of course!! If it's not eaten on day 2 I'll throw it out. (I pack lunches for my kids and husband in insulated boxes w/ice)

As long as its mold-free, you're good to go. Teach your kids about how lucky they are to have PB&J: http://sss.seeyourimpact.org/stories

Don't know if I'd actually give them yesterday's sandwich, but definitely would repack the uneaten apple, banana or other fruit!

                1. why the hell is Kate Gosselin continually in the news?

                2. generally, if a kid won't eat what's in front of them they don't like it. Stop forcing them to eat things they don't like.

Don't really know who Kate is but I do know that I will repack an uneaten P&B sandwhich; however, I wouldn't repack a "meat" sandwhich. Our school puts all school lunches in a large walk in fridge, I also include a icepace that remains cool well until the end of the day. I will repack uneaten fruit that looks and smells good...any snacks that were not touched and will repack a P&B sandwhich at least once...after that I may toss, but it usually gets eaten the next day. If I continually see this as a problem, I also take away the snacks out of the lunch and only include the milk, sandwhich and the fruit. This usually solves this little problem of the snack food being eaten and not the sandwhich!! I say go ahead and repack within reason!!!!

There's a reason the kids didn't eat their lunch in the first place. What makes you think if you repack it they'll eat it on day 2?

For crying out loud, leave her alone.  This has to be a new low for reporting on her.
