Does technology help you or hurt you as a working mom?

Blackberries and iPhones can be wonderful things, but not when you're replying to work emails during what's supposed to be "quality time" with the kids. Then again, that sort of technology may help you get out of the office and home to the family earlier. Being a single mom who owns a business that requires people to purchase my custom made jewelry, if I do NOT answer the phone, I'm missing a sale that pays the bills so that my son is not without food and shelter. He's 5 and he understands that if mommy doesn't work for 5 minutes here and there, then mommy needs to get a job that takes her away for 8 hours or more at a time instead of 5 or 10 minutes.

I made the decision many years ago to give up my career and stay home and raise my kids. We went without vacations, fancy cars and eating out, but my kids will always have the memory of having their mom at soccer games, awards ceremonies and track meets. Having these memories is Priceless.
