Do you embarrass your kids?

Family dance parties in yesteryear were so great. We’d crank up the tunes and I’d twirl the kids on my hips. We’d practice the Macarena and the Lawnmower. Nothing like teaching a 5-year-old to do the moonwalk.

Family dance parties now? They don’t exist. At least not if I’m dancing because with tweens – ages 9 and 12 – there is nothing more embarrassing than Mom moving her hips. Unless Mom is singing…or cheering too loud at the baseball game…or texting with one finger.

There comes a point (and I am there) where Mom or Dad pretty much just has to be in the room – heck, just breathe too loudly -- and it’s embarrassing for the kids.  It usually hits around puberty but experts suggest it’s starting to happen earlier. And, no, it’s impossible to avoid because kids are mortified at anything and everything a parent does.

What about you – do you embarrass your kids?

UPDATE: Really, 46 percent of you don't embarrass your kids? What are your secrets to coolness?
