Crib notes: Gaga goes for the goo-goo set

Pop stars, eager to connect with the next generation of potential fans, have written children's books, a la Madonna, and designed lines of kids' clothes, like Gwen Stefani. Now, Lady GaGa's in on the act, with her line of mini-me ensembles, Gaga Goo Goo. Okay, so it's actually a spoof commercial, but it's hilarious watching some seriously adorable toddlers don some of her most (in?)famous costumes. Our favorite is the toddler version of the meat dress because it's just so practical. Forget to pack your kid a snack before playgroup? No problem, just let her tuck into her salami headpiece or her prosciutto dress...

Gender selection of unborn babies is banned in both China and India but is perfectly legal here in the U.S. At least 30 countries have banned the practice of sex selection due to concerns that it reinforces gender inequality and could eventually set a precedent that would allow prospective parents to select babies based on other traits, like eye color. However, in America, a variety of gender selection techniques are allowed, ranging from implanting a woman with only embryos of the desired sex to aborting fetuses of an unwanted gender. This has left American doctors to their own devices, and morals, in determining how to handle these situations. They must decide on their own if they should care for an immigrant woman under pressure from her in-laws to have a boy, differently than they would a white woman who's desperate for a girl.

Teenage girls who don't want saggy boobs when they're older are advised to add sports bras to their back-to-school shopping lists. That's the advice one doctor, who's an expert in breast movement, is passing along to young girls getting ready for another year of PE classes. Arguing that regular bras don't give enough support during physical activity, which can lead to back pain and long-term sag, she's recommended that sports bras for girls be mandatory like mouth guards are for hockey. A-cup girls -- don't think you're exempt, she says you're as at much risk for these uncomfortable conditions as the FF girl next to you in the locker room.

Happy World Breastfeeding Week to all of the lactating ladies out there! No word on whether anyone's bought a star in the Milky Way to honor the event, but some more down-to-earth stars are helping to celebrate. As part of the week's festivities, a compilation of photos of celebrity moms nursing their wee ones has been put together.

Anorexic kindergartners?! Nooo... Newly released statistics from England show that nearly 200 children between the ages of five and nine were treated for eating disorders in that country during the past three years. An additional 400 kids between nine and 13 were also treated during that same time period. The numbers show a dramatic increase from previous years, and some say those numbers are likely lower than the real numbers of kids with eating disorders. Everything from society's obsession with thin celebrities to family members with histories of anxiety, depression and mental health problems has been blamed for the epidemic.
