Are you a better cook than your mom?

Moms today regularly beat ourselves up about well, everything. On the list of things we feel inadequate about is a fear of being less domestic than our mothers were.

But, that may not be true.

A study of English moms showed that today's mothers actually know more about food and know more recipes by heart than their mothers did. The study showed that not only do modern moms have 21 recipes memorized, but they are also more creative in the kitchen than their foremothers.

Of course, these days attitudes about foods have shifted and our kids are likely more exposed to different types of foods than back in the day, when a meal of meat and a side of veggies was dinner, period.

Whether it’s throwing things into a crockpot, or keeping the fridge stocked with easy-to-mix staples, or even using grocery-store shortcuts (what would we do without store-bought pizza dough? Frozen meatballs? Salad-in-a-bag?), we’ve got myriad ways to get food on the table.

What do you think? What’s your favorite “by-heart” recipe? Share them in the comments!
